Clarborough & Welham Community Newsletter is now an established feature of community life. Published quarterly, it is currently a 24-page, A4, full-colour. ‘journal’ containing a mix of public information, articles and community group notices.

Distributed free to every household in Clarborough and Welham. Clarborough  Primary School also provides 50+ copies for families who live outside our immediate community. Further, we place batches of Newsletters in  Retford (Denman) Library, Bassetlaw Action Centre, Retford Hub, and also BCVS and the Aurora Centre (both in Worksop) as well as several other online outlets. Copies are also placed (for ‘passing trade’) at Clarborough’s King Stores SPAR outlet.

Our print run is currently 600. Many pages are also read online since our community website contains current and back issues of our Newsletter; our site has been servicing some 1500 pages viewed per week for the past few years.

Recently BCVS (Bassetlaw Community & Voluntary Service) has also posted our Newsletters on each of their weekly Bulletins throughout each issue's 'life'. BCVS's Bulletins currently go to nearly 1300 conmtacts throughout Bassetlaw and also Bolsover District of North Derbyshire, so content gets a prety good airing!

Finance for this initiative was, for many years, divided between our community IT Group and revenue from advertising. Our Parish Council has provided a significant grant towards the printing costs in recent years although the Newsletter remains editorially independent. From Autumn 2015 a local entrepreneur, who wishes to remain anonymous, has provided printing services ‘at cost’ until our Autumn 2020 issue. We are currently seeking funding streams or sponsorship to continue this full-colour production for the foreseeable future.

ADVERTISING

Advertising revenue is the most important income stream that supports our Newsletter and with the wide distribution network outlined in the previous section our annual advertising rates are pretty impressive.

The total cost for all four consecutive issues of our Newsletter are currently (Summer 2020 issue):

The communIty website link mentioned above also has editorial deadlines for each issue. We are always keen to co-operate with organisations and individuals who have information to share with our readers.

We are also keen to engage with organisations and businesses interested in taking advertising space with us. Please do get in touch to discuss your needs. We do ask advertisers to get in touch to submit their artwork and related matters somewhat earlier than our general editorial deadlines. This is because we lay-up adverts as the first stage in editing each issue. We do not charge extra for specific advert positions (front, centre or back) for each issue since we rotate advert positions through the full year of four issues that forms the basis of our advert contracts. This means that each advert moves through successive issues so that all advertisers get the full range of benefits of each position.
