Saturday 8th September - Stage 7 - West Bridgford, Nottingham to Mansfield
The Tour of Britain returns to North Nottinghamshire!

Tour Stage 7 starts from West Bridgford, Nottingham and passes through the towns and pretty villages of Nottinghamshire including Keyworth where there’s a King of the Mountains climb, Lowdham, Southwell, Tuxford, Eaton, Retford town centre (sprint as the riders enter Retford), Babworth, Ranby, Worksop (sprint), Edwinstowe, Bilsthorpe (sprint), Blidworth, Ravenshead and Hucknall, ending with the race passing through the streets of central Mansfield and very likely with a bunch sprint at the end.

Thoresby Park Celebrates the work of Humphry Repton |
Saturday, 08 September 2018 10:00am - 04:30pm |
Thoresby Park Celebrates the work of Humphry Repton
Thoresby Park
Saturday 8 September 2018 10am - 4.30pm
Thoresby Park celebrates the work of Humphry Repton, the last great landscape designer of the eighteenth century, in the bicentenary of his death, Thoresby Park being one of Reptons’ sculptured landscapes.
Humphry Repton came to Thoresby directly from his ducal commission at Welbeck. His client, Charles Pierrepont, was heir to another ‘Dukery’ through his mother and although he had none of the titles, he had the land and wealth to improve it.
Although Repton was often acerbic about his clients he wrote of Pierrepont, “His manners…were gracious and princely – his mansion was an example of elegant hospitality – there are few places where I have found such uniform ease and comfort blended with all the graces of higher nobility.”
Join Thoresby Estate at this Special Event
Come to Thoresby on September 8th for a once in 200 year chance to hear five specialists on Repton and his Red Book presentation for the “improvements” of the park in 1791. You will hear them speak in the hall of the modern house before touring the viewpoints to look at the effect of his work 220 years on.
Lunch as it might have been served to Repton and his client will be taken alongside a Pyramid built in the woods by Pierrepont to commemorate his friend Nelson’s victory on the Nile.
Booking is essential for this special event Tickets: £65 per ticket
To book: Email humphry.repton@thoresby.com

Worksop Youth Choir is Recruiting! |
Monday, 10 September 2018 06:00pm - 07:00pm |
Come & Join Worksop Youth Choir - We're recruiting in September!
First rehearsal of new term: Monday 10 September 6pm - 7pm
Worksop Youth Choir has been up and running for seven months and has 23 children singing in what has become an elite choir in a very short space of time. Rehearsals are always fun, the children learn lots of new repertoire which includes chart hits, songs from musical shows and films, also valuable lessons on vocal technique and enjoy making new friends in a supportive atmosphere.
We are proud to employ a dynamic music team. Ruth Massey, our Musical Director is inspiring and has been a professional singer herself with some of the most prestigious choirs in the country. Ruth is ably assisted by Adele Spencer, a vocal coach who has recently moved into the area and has years of experience working with children. Three highly successful concerts have taken place this summer and our young singers proudly wear a smart new uniform which was kindly sponsored by the local 'One-Stop' supermarket.
We hope to build on our progress so far and will be recruiting in September. All children aged 7 years or older will be very welcome to join us and there are no auditions.
The choir meets on Monday evenings during term time at Holy Family Catholic Primary school on Netherton Road, Worksop S80 2SF between 6pm and 7pm. The first rehearsal of our new term will be on September 10th and for new members, the first two sessions are free.
Take a look at our website worksopyouthchoir.uk or visit our Facebook page @worksopyc.
We can be contacted through either the website or Facebook if any further information is required. We look forward to welcoming lots of new faces in September!
