Getting Prepared to Welcome the Tour de Yorkshire to Our Region
Despite the rain this afternoon I’ve had a brilliant drive through Bawtry and Austerfield enjoying their ‘yellowness’ in honour of Le Tour de Yorkshire which passes through our region this coming Saturday 30th April.
There’s yellow bunting galore and a wonderful array of yellow bicycles fixed to fences, propped up against walls and even on top of buildings, together with a few blue bicycles, all lining the route that Le Tour will be taking.
It’s wonderful to see our local towns and villages looking so splendid and so welcoming - well done Bawtry and Austerfield!... and I’m sure ALL the towns and villages along the route look fabulous.
It's going to be an exciting weekend for Yorkshire... and an exciting day for North Notts on Saturday too as Le Tour de Yorkshire pops across the border into Nottinghamshire and passes through Harworth and Bircotes.
Fortunately Saturday promises to be the best day of the weekend for weather - still chilly but mainly sunny. You’ll find lots of special events and refreshments in Austerfield and Bawtry to keep you entertained and happy on Saturday whilst waiting for the women’s race in the morning and the men’s in late afternoon.
Be aware that the local roads on Le Tour route close 1 hour before the riders are due to arrive, so leave plenty of time to arrive and park up well before then if you’re coming to watch the race ‘cos it’s going to be really busy!
Find more information about the Tour de Yorkshire on our Events page here. It's a useful guide to the times that the riders are due to arrive at Tickhill, Harworth and Bircotes and Bawtry for the morning and afternoon races.
